I spent this Valentines day with a great couple, Sarah and Eric. We’ve done an engagement shoot in the past, but I needed a couple for a commercial shoot at the Oakland Zoo, and they were up for the romantic activity. It was one of the coolest shoots I’ve ever done, and the access that we got from the zoo was nothing short of exceptional. The images are for the zoo to promote their wedding packages, and I was more than happy to take the job. We took some shots in front of their Snow building, and then moved into the Zoo. The employees brought out a snake and a ferret. They had names, but I forgot them. I tried to capture the great features of the park, as well as capture the romance between Sarah and Eric. We just had our second bridal fair of the year, and it was amazing. Got to meet some great couples and had a pretty good overall presence. The Westin’s loading zone was super convenient, and it was a quarter of the trip we had to make at the first show. My team for this show included Lina, Chelsea and Mike. We were rocking and rolling in our little corner. Everyone loved the books, and we had some brides that stayed well over 20 minutes. The feedback and the connections we received were fantastic. Kimberly and her team from International Wedding Festival put on a great show. Our next show is with Modern Bridal on Feburary 28th, at the Concourse Pavilion in San Francisco. Here are some photos from our booth.
Eric contacted me to get some head shots and body shots done for his modeling portfolio. We had a great shoot, with 3 looks and 3 locations including Oyster Point Marina and the Embarcadero. Hopefully Eric will get some modeling work soon.
The wedding was very relaxed and fun. Being friends with the bride and groom helped keep the stress down, and the whole thing was mostly fun. It was the first time I was a guest as well as a photographer at a friend’s wedding, and it worked out well. The venue was Highland Country Club in Oakland. Great catering by Devoted Catering Enjoy the Video.
Toby and Hilla’s wedding was absolutely fantastic, and a great pleasure to shoot. Everything went smooth, the setting was gorgeous, the live music and the food were superb. Nestledown is one of the most stunning venues I’ve shot at, Brooke and her staff were awesome. Leo Brasil (usagoiania (at) hotmail.com) played some great music during the reception, and also provided the soundtrack for the slideshow. Continental Catering , was also fantastic and Michael did a great job. There are more images on the way, as well as an album.
Here is a video from Matt’s proposal to Meghan. I am all done with the images, and these are the best ones from the proposal, photo walk, and family brunch.
I woke up at 8am this Sunday morning in order to capture a wedding proposal. Matt called just two days ago asking me if I am available to shoot, and I was. We communicated via text message in the morning, coordinating logistics of catching up with them at the Palace of Fine Arts. Once I made positive ID, I followed the couple, acting like a regular tourist with a couple of professional cameras, taking shots of PFA and the couple when Meghan was not looking in my direction. While Meghan was taking a photo of the ceiling of the PFA dome, Matt got on one knee behind her and took out the ring. When she turned around she was very surprised. She said yes. Matt introduced us, and the three of us ended up walking around the lake to take a few engagement snaps. They met up with family in the Marina. I am glad it worked out the way Matt intended, and very happy to provide them with some great images to treasure.
More images to come soon…
